Moroccans El Bakkali and Tindouft in the final of the 3,000 m steeplechase

After the wave of elimination and disqualification, El Bakkali qualified by finishing first in the 3rd qualifying series in 8:19 a.m., ahead of Finland’s Topi Raitinen (8:19 a.m.) and Frenchman Alexis Phelut. (8min 19 sec 36).

As for Tindouft, he snatched his ticket by occupying 5th place in the first series of qualifying in 8 min 15 sec 91. With this performance, he achieved the fourth fastest time in qualifying.

Bad luck for the other Moroccan in the running, Mohamed Ben Zahra, who was disqualified after finishing 10ᵉ in the 2nd round of qualifying in 8min 28 sec 63.

The 3,000m steeplechase final will be contested on August 2nd. The two Moroccan athletes hope to be successful.
