Tanger Med: Seizure of more than 52,000 euros undeclared
Tangier – The elements of the customs operating at the Tanger Med port seized, Monday evening, more than 52,000 euros in the possession of a Moroccan resident abroad, who tried to introduce this sum on the national territory without prior declaration.
During a routine passenger control operation, the elements of the customs operating at the Tanger Med passenger port subjected a Moroccan resident in Germany to a careful inspection, which made it possible to get hold of 52,400 euros, equivalent to 550,000 dirhams, that the person concerned was trying to bring into the national territory without having prior authorization from the competent financial institutions, said a customs source.
The same source added that this currency sum was concealed in the purse and vehicle of the person concerned, which was handed over to the judicial police, on the instruction of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to complete and deepen the investigation into this case.
