The local judicial police brigade at the regional security station in Azrou, in collaboration with elements of the anti-gang brigade of Fez, arrested, Tuesday, four individuals, aged between 29 and 54, for their alleged involvement in a case of falsification of the national currency and its disposal through commercial transactions.
Azrou police had received a notice on September 9 that the suspects had acquired head of cattle at the weekly Souk in the same town, in return for the sums of money of 37 counterfeit 200 dirham notes, said. the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release, noting that these counterfeit tickets found among the victims were seized for the purposes of the investigation.
The intensive research and investigations carried out by the elements of the police in this case allowed, on Tuesday morning, the arrest of the first suspect at the weekly Souk of the same city, while he was trying to exchange 51 counterfeit tickets using the same criminal method, before a subsequent security operation led to the arrest of his accomplices in the vicinity of Fez, in possession of a herd of 45 head of cattle suspected of being obtained from this criminal activity, specifies the DGSN.
Two of the suspects were taken into custody, while the others are subject to a judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the possible ramifications of these criminal acts and to identify other potential accomplices, concludes the press release.
